Personality:
Usagi is a very compassionate girl with a heart of gold. Even at a young age, she understands that violence and aggressiveness doesn't solve problems. As a pubescent teen, her natural instincts has always been to offer love for whoever or whatever she cared most about. Her parents have raised her in an environment where everyone is loving, and that kindness and generosity will always land a person where he or she needs to be. She grew up with a very romanticism point of view, which she doesn't see as a good thing, and often quotes that she would be fetched from her normal life by a knight in shining armour to become a princess. From a very young age, her dreams didn't change at all. She enjoys moments with her friends as well as gossiping about the newest groove, and generally spends most of her time as a normal teenager would. Without much to worry in terms of dangers and villains, she seems to have everything packed up nicely for her, by her.

While Usagi isn't exactly the smartest or the most conventional girl in the neighbourhood, she uses her heart to decide what should be done, and her sympathy and her bonds with her friends stretched her far beyond her years, earning her the title of the messiah of light—a light personified being with the will and the strength to do what's right, what's just, and what will bring the most smiles on to everyone's faces. Like moth to a flame, her ability to attract people to her light and carefree nature hasn't set anyone aflame, nor will she ever. She is very aware of her responsibility as the role she's forced to play at an early stage, and deals with it accordingly, and no matter what is being thrown at her, she always manages to settle herself into her role and decide responsibly, even if it meant sacrificing herself to save the planet. More insight into her intelligence hails that she's not as airheaded as she seems, and much of her naivety comes from pure laziness than just lack of intelligence.

She has an incredible sense of duty and she doesn't hesitate to put her life on the line to protect her friends. While she doesn't act like the bigger sibling over her group of friends, she always manages to ride through, regal, dutiful and responsible. She feels driven to protect, much of that desire comes from the earth, which she loved ever since she was a young princess on the moon. While on the moon, she fell deeply in love with the earth and its prince, and from then on, that drive to protect stemmed from the base that the Earth is the Prince's home.

She has done a lot of maturing over the two years (in which the series progress within), and starting off in the beginning, Usagi is shown to be very abrasive and at times, reckless. True to a normal teenager, she cheaps out of studying to read shoujo manga, play video games and eat junk food. Much of her years before the age fourteen, she has been the airhead and rather immature as a girl of fourteen. In the start of the series, she's introduced as girl who isn't as smart as the rest of the students around her, often getting very low grades on most subjects. Often irritable, she is then shown throwing the test paper away. When the paper hits an unsuspecting guy on the head, (who turns out to be her knight in shining armour, ironic) they bicker about how hotheaded and airheaded Usagi is and the two part ways with nothing but a bad impression of each other. Her hotheadedness come from her quick to react with Mamoru's words in the beginning, and her quick to judge based on who has treated her right or wrong. However, despite the way Mamoru has treated her (read: teased), she is still shown caring about his wellbeing when he was badly injured midway through the first season.

She is inept at fighting in the beginning, jumping and running away from attacks when they're thrown at her. Like a normal teenager reacting to dangerous situations, she really has no choice but to defend herself—through trial and error on her own part, she slowly learns to come out winning and not come out with a body full of scars. Slowly, she matures on her own, and as more and more members of the inner court shows up, her sense of duty heightens.

She is, too, shown to snap and fall apart, because in the end, she's still a teenaged girl with a big responsibility. Having found out that she's the reincarnated princess of the moon and Sailor moon just puts a heck of a lot of stress on her shoulders, and by then, she's had Tuxedo Mask/Prince Endymion taken from her. She breaks down and refuses to fight. This is a side to her that prevails throughout the latter half of the first season. However, as time progress, and more alarming things arise to meet their level, Usagi throws away her refusal to fight and her immature side to save the world (much due to the fact that her friends were killed in front of her), hence, the forced maturing.

Through the first season, we get to see a pubescent girl maturing, albeit a little too fast even for our liking. But throughout all the events being pushed to and at her, it forces her, and she forces herself to grow to meet the expectations of the people around her, majorly because of her role in the series. She willingly throws away her childhood in favour of the safety of the world, and she doesn't even bat an eyelash. She's brave, she's courageous, and she's sacrificial. She desires a peaceful, ideal world even thought it might be too far away—she's willing to build towards one, and if it can be done with her powers, she will do it.

Through the second season, primarily in the latter half of the second season, Usagi struggles with the desire that Demando has towards her. She firmly believes that love will solve just about anything, and refuses to budge from her ideology. Through many sophistications, Usagi proves her courage and her selflessness by going up against wiseman when Chibi-usa was turned into Black Lady and back. Her trust in her friends and Mamoru helped her brave through the harsh situations, earning her the courage she needs to finally perish wiseman—saving the world.

This shows a number of things about the people she cares about and her relationship to them. She trusts easily. She trusts herself and she trusts the people she interacts with. Put through many challenges in which Demando kidnaps her to be his queen, she trustsed her love with Mamoru to set her free from the dark prince's mind control. This says a lot about her as an individual because at the start of the second part of the second season, Mamoru received an alarming dream that involved Usagi dying if he stayed with her. Hence, because of his dream patterns, he breaks up with her. Throughout this time of their rocky relationship, she never once fallen short of loving him, and her emotions and feelings for him never once wavered, even when he rejected her brutally. This goes to show that her firm believe in love never once wavered, which payed off, drawing her back to Mamoru by the near-end of the season.

This trust she has is further extended in season three, when she was fighting a near-lost battle with Mistress nine. Because Mistress Nine was Hotaru, she believed that if she gave her all, the kindness in Hotaru's heart would be able to overpower the darkness in her heart and return to the good side once more. However, this backfired on her as Mistress Nine crushed the holy grail, leaving the both of them at a stalemate. The Outers blame her for her foolishness to trust the enemy, and she feels overly responsible (but not once did she ever regret trusting Mistress Nine) for the disappearance of the sacred item. Hence, when Mistress Nine went out of control, she throws herself into the chaos—a battle she knew she might lose. Her role pushed her outward, and her responsibility for the people around her enabled her to act the way she did and not once did she regret or hesitate.

Despite growing considerably along the first four seasons, it is in the fifth season that she matured the most. With the absence of Mamoru, she thrives to become someone Mamoru could be proud of. Before Mamoru left for America, he gives her a promise ring, in place for an engagement ring. This is the incentive and drive for her to become an adult. She felt the need to become a person who can stand alongside Mamoru as his supporter and lifelong partner, hence, she did her best and complained very little in regards to the lack of letter he had been sending her. She held her worries and her insecurities within her and refused to voice it out, which triggers the worries of her friends. But in response to her friends' concern, she always replied with a smile.

In this regard, she doesn't like to pester her friends with her trivial worries, as she has been doing throughout the season. This intensifies even more when new soldiers shows up, refusing their friendship. As mirrored in the first season, when emotions are bottled up long enough, she broke out, expressing her innermost feelings about her loneliness.

She is the type of girl who would put her friends' safety before her own, and as a selfless woman, she looks out for her friends and is quick to defend them if anyone attempts to threaten or hurt her friends. Although she doesn't have any good tactic for battle and mainly leans on her friend Ami for help, she gets down to business and finish what she starts. She doesn't give up easily, and fights with all that she has, especially when it comes to the safety of the world.

She relies on the power of love to save the day, and believes that love is able to cure everything. She has a lot of love for earth, and strives to protect all that she loves with every fiber of her being. Her good-nature and her innocence has struck the hearts of many people, as she accepts everyone, even if the person has wronged her before. Because she doesn't hold grudges, she is able to befriend villains and change them with her kindheartedness. She believes that everyone has the right to be given a second chance in life, and puts her all into healing everyone, even at the expense of herself.

She can be rather immature sometimes, often bickering with her future daughter, Chibi-Usa, however, she truly loves the pink-haired girl and will do anything to protect her. Sometimes, she can be a little insensitive, but she means no harm from it, and feels guilty when she hurts people's feelings. She is also known to be a crybaby at times, but she tries not to cry in front of others, seen in the middle of the last season of the anime. She tries not to cause other people to worry about her, because she knows that she will end up troubling her friends. She keeps trouble to herself, and deals with it accordingly. (which is shown to be rather effective, although she does snap and break down if it gets too much).

Both Mamoru and Chibi-Usa are acting catalysts causing her to mature. Chibi-Usa's wellbeing acted as a trigger for her sense of duty as a mother in the second season, intensifying her sense as an overlooking figure. She is shown to care more than she's willing to say for the pink haired girl, and knowingly, even if Chibi-Usa doesn't treat Usagi as she would her mother, Usagi still dotes on Chibi-Usa like a mother should. And it is this that causes Chibi-Usa to move her heart in regards to her relationship to Usagi. This is shown more clearly in the fourth season, and the second and third movies.

She loves to eat sweets and pig out on foods, but she hates carrots. She's known for eating cake, candy, ice cream, and anything sweet in general. She also loves cute things and little animals, as well. She's horrible at cooking, and it is known that she is capable of burning even water. Her inability to cool is quite impressive, although her dream is to become a bride. She is loyal to the man she loves and is pretty much love-stricken when it comes to him. She is open with public displays of affection, although her boyfriend seems to think otherwise.

Abilities:

Usagi possesses a power item called the Silver Imperial Crystal. It is said to be the most powerful item in the universe. Through this crystal, she channels her power, which allows her to do many things. The abilities include (but are not limited to) transforming her into Eternal Sailor Moon, extracting her staffs, and channelling her power to save the world. There isn't a limit put to her power, but the power does have a deadly drawback. When she overextends her power, the crystal cracks and Usagi dies. She uses this crystal to heal, for the most part, and it is able to channel enough energy to heal a person. However, she is prohibited from using the crystal unless the situation is dire.

As Eternal Sailor Moon (and her other couterparts), she is able to summon the Eternal tier to aid her quest to purify tainted spirits and souls. With the help of her tier, her powers are saved for the last moment as a final finish to purify and heal.

A side note for her power is the usage of the jewel ornaments on her buns. They act as sonic intensifiers for sound and sends sound waves at her enemies if she wails or screams loud enough. This is shown to help her on several occasions.

Lastly, she also makes use of her Luna Pen, which was given to her by Luna. For the duration of the series, she uses the pen to disguise herself plentifully to blend in with the course of her missions. She is shown to use this pen frequently throughout the first season.

[ There is a girl—a petit girl with a very strange hairstyle. Twin buns sitting adjacent to each other on either side of her head. She seems a little frantic, but much of that is due to the fact that she's probably found herself dropped off somewhere she didn't recognize—This is not Juuban! ]

Um, hello! Hi, um, is this working? [ She's currently holding on to the handheld device with a scrutinizing glance before holding out the device at arm's length. ] Hello, my name is Usagi Tsukino and I think I'm lost. Could anyone please, please give me the directions back to Juuban, Japan?

[ Because this isn't Japan, obviously. She squeezes her eyes shut tight in an attempt to look desperate, begging, even. ] Please and thank you!

On another note, [ she looks around, and the device shows a sign of movement, the scenery slightly bobbing up and down due to motion on her end. ] if you're here, girls, [ she looks concerned on the particular word 'girls'. ] tell me? Although I really hope you're all safe and sound, back at home.

... [ Now she just looks downright sad. And the last part, though mumbled, is slightly audible. ] someone please find me...I wanna go home...

[ Because due to complications, she really can't transform—not with such an unfamiliar setting and unsafe exposure... ]

Third Person:

Usagi spent much of a Saturday morning sleeping in until her mother stomped up the stairs to hull her out of bed. Even after the ultimate battle with Chaos, the habit of sleeping in and indulging in her everyday habits were still in tact, and very much rigidly attached.

This morning, however, had been slightly different than most Saturdays, as she rose on her own accord, through sheer determination and will, tugged herself into the bathroom for half an hour before emerging brand new, like a newly opened pack of toothpaste on a crisp morning. And by whatever means she decided to indulge in, hopped down the stairs, and slipped on her pink jacket for her trip outside.

Because for whatever good (or bad) reason, she still couldn't cook to save her life, and through whatever lessons she managed to land herself with, the teacher would lead her by the hand, out the kitchen to air it out because she would somehow have the unique skill of completely obliterating the kitchen tools.

And thus, her trip to the nearest cafe would do her some good, as she stepped foot into the cute cafe just opened recently for a light breakfast before hopping to work.

Yes, she had a place to work, now. And no, it wasn't cooking—at least, she wasn't the one cooking. Like the one she had back at home, she worked as a part time waitress, and much of her workday consist of trying not to break anything while handing customers their dishes.

The word was trying. Why the employer kept her at her job was beyond her. Perhaps it was becuase she had yielded so many customers with her outgoing attitude and cheery smile—she didn't know. But whatever it was, she was glad for the reason.

“Yes, I'd like a slice of double-layered strawberry shortcake with a large strawberry shake, please!”

And her day went on.
